In 2012, Jason became the code's first openly gay footballer. Vicsport had the absolute pleasure of AFL player and coach David Parkin being a guest speaker at our recent planning day. With his years of experience and involvement in thesport industry, Parkin was able to deliver really important advice about high-performing teams, and getting the best out of each other.
"If it ain't broke, smash it" was Parkin's philosophy, there is always a better way to do something. Parkin also shared stories from his coaching days, and experiences he has had within the AFL and community football alike.
As a sign of appreciation for Parkin giving up his time to provide inspiration to the Vicsport team, Vicsport has proudly made a donation to a charity that Parkin is the Patron of, the Male Bag Foundation. The Male Bag Foundation conduct amazing work, spreading awareness of men's health and raising money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
We are constantly on the lookout for stories from across the industry highlighting the work of our members. If you have a program you are proud to share, or an incredible story, please share it with us here.
